NAU is probably one of my favorite places to shoot in Flagstaff. I love the old buildings which provide not only a beautiful backdrop but also a neat texture to my photos. I love that every time I shoot on campus, I discover something I didn’t notice before and this opens up a whole other world to me in terms of locations. I love that NAU has pretty, green grass in the Summer and beautiful, golden leaves in the Fall. With all the new buildings popping up, I’m loving the architecture there as well, but my absolute favorite part about NAU is the luxe and engulfing afternoon light that shows up on north campus just before sunset. NAU truly is a beauty, and what an amazing place to have a wedding.
In all honesty though, I don’t think Janelle and Wesley chose to have their wedding at NAU because of my reasons listed above. They have their own personal attachments to NAU with the fact that they both work there, they both went to school there as well as many of their other family members too. It’s amazing how much a location can mean to someone. Their wedding took place on a perfect summer day, and I say perfect because the weather really was just right for the outdoor setting and the games they had going during their reception. Being the dog lovers Matt and I are, we loved seeing Janelle and Wesley’s dog act as a ring bearer during their ceremony. Lulu was such an adorable little dog, and she participated in some of her own games during the reception too as people threw a tennis ball for her throughout.
Overall, Matt and I had a wonderful afternoon hanging out with the happy couple and their families. It was a good day.
Congrats, newlyweds and thanks for having us!
